It’s always slow goin’ for a new author, but I’m still so overwhelmed and honored for the reads and reviews so far! You guys are amazing! It’s kind of funny. I’ve had a few friends who didn’t know I wrote in the first place (Seriously? Did you not read my novella texts and emails all these years? Ah, so it all makes sense now...) and then when they learned what I write, I got the grin and eye-brow wiggle thing. One friend even made a bee-line to my house so I could sign the hard copy she bought. I wanted to cry. First, she bought a HARD COPY! Then it hit me - my first signing!! HA!! It’s been so fun and humbling and fun and exhausting and fun...and did mention how much fun it’s been? The part that really hit me the hardest is the pride and encouragement from these friends. Especially hearing from folks I would never have guessed. I’ve learned a good lesson. Don’t sell anyone short. You just never know! |

Remember when I told you in my FIRST newsletter (this is my second one, if you were wondering) that I am learning as I go and I’m thankful YOU want to learn this stuff along with me? Well, I think this is going to become a permanent part in my newsletters. I am a voracious reader. My Kindle is pretty much surgically attached to the end of my arm. I mean, I will flip it open at a red light if it’s too long- that's how much I read. Stephen King even said as a writer, if you aren’t writing, you should be reading. I happen to agree. SO. I will be book-reviewing books here. I’ll review books from some of my NEW author friends along with reviews of books I happen to like by authors I don’t know (yet! ;-). Here’s my first review!! |

Shine Like Silver
By Alicia Hunter Pace |
|
|
Alicia
Hunter Pace is the pen name of a wonderful dynamic duo who write
together and who have supported and encouraged me from the start. They
introduced my first book in their last newsletter, so it’s only fair
that I return the favor. But I’m not doing it just because of that favor
returning thing. This is a very timely, very fun book I would encourage
you to look up. We just finished the Olympics and America won GOLD!
This is a fun, sexy, heart warming hockey story that you will love! I
did!
(Oh – and know that I will only be reviewing books that I have read and liked. I loved two more of their books, Forgiving Jackson and Sweet Gone South. Both are very good books, too! Go check them out!)
You can map out your future, but sometimes the heart has other plans… Don’t miss this enchanting next installment in USA TODAY bestselling author Alicia Hunter Pace’s Good Southern Women series. |

|
|
Ava Grace Fairchild never
expected to find herself on the back of a hockey player’s motorcycle. Until now, her life in Laurel Springs, Alabama, has been everything you’d expect for a Southern belle: old money, silver spoons and a perfectly planned future. But you can’t plan for the kind of public humiliation that has her running away from her well-ordered life to spend one perfect night with a stranger. |
|
|
Russian
enforcer Luka Zadorov is no fan of the South. Being traded to Alabama
has meant swapping the glory of northern hockey for playing second
fiddle to college football, but his plan to get traded back hits an
interesting snag when he crosses paths with Ava Grace. Maybe the South
has something to offer after all…
Together,
Luka and Ava Grace are finally enjoying the present instead of worrying
about the future. But when their no-strings fling suddenly develops the
kind of strings you can’t ignore, it’s time for them both to confront
what their hearts truly need.

Not that I’m some famous author shielding my eyes from all the camera flashes and taking the phone off the hook due to all the interview requests! But even being new, a writers life it interesting to some. So, I thought I'd answer some of those here. One of the first questions I was asked was why I write this sub-genre. Well, bottom line – I like to read it. I have always loved to read romance. I read all types of sub-genres. But Later in Life hits home for me. Buck and Ruby is the debut of a couple in their fifties with some pretty tough issues. I mentioned in my “About the Author” page at the end of Buck and Ruby that I have had the privilege of listening to a lot of women over the years and the same theme kept floating to the surface. And thus, Buck and Ruby were born. I think it’s
natural that we tend to gravitate to what is familiar to us. Little
ones love to read about baby animals or other babies. Young adults love
to read about young adult stuff. Us older people, particularly older ladies I’ve come to learn, like to read what is familiar to them. It’s natural. I know babies don’t write books and although there are some really awesome young adults starting their writing careers (it’s how we all started, I’m pretty sure) most YA books are written by adults. It’s not the writing I’m talking about. It’s the reading. We tend to gravitate toward the familiar. The comfortable. And escape there for a little while. Even in fantasy, or paranormal, a lot of us enjoy reading our age range. I was thrilled when some of my favorite authors, who are around my age, aged their characters with them. So, I just jumped into Later in Life from the start because that’s what my characters were giving me. I LOVE the people who live in my head! (Until they wake me up in the middle of the night insisting I stumble across the house and log onto my computer at 3am...;-). So––there you have it! Kinda’ cool when you think about it! If you have a question you'd like to know - shoot it to me and I probably will answer it in my next newsletter! |

So, that’s about it! I told you that you’d learn how Chief Lowly got his name. I decided to put that in a short story. You’ll also learn how Princess Poke-a-hole-in-it got her name too!☺️ This FREE short story will come out around May, I’m thinking. The reason then is because Raynor and Rose will be in editing by then and I can’t just sit around! I’ll be plunking out a new short story for you! (Did you catch that quick little plug? YES – Raynor and Rose is the next book and they are moving along VERY well! OMGGGGG! Raynor is AMAZING! And Rose is such a beautiful spitfire! She teaches me something new every single day!! Thinking you will see it sometime early fall!!). WOOHOO – my SECOND book!!
I can’t thank you all enough for your support and kindness! Many have already read Buck and Ruby and I’m starting to see some reviews. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
I hope those two are hitting your heart like they hit mine!
Have a GREAT March and remember – love one another – that’s the point!
Peace✌️
